Dr Danie Kotze obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2002, before joining the Fellowship of the College of Physicians of South Africa in 2011. He then obtained his Certificate in Clinical Haematology from the College of Medicine of South Africa in May 2014, and opened the doors of his Independent Practice in July 2014.
Dr Kotze’s main interests are the diagnosis and treatment of patients with haematological malignancies (including acute and chronic leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphomas, myeloma and myeloproliferative disorders) and the investigation and management of anaemias, red cell disorders, coagulation and thrombotic problems and blood transfusion.
Dr Kotze prides himself on paying close attention to all of his patients, as well as always being available when his patients and their family requires his help. He understands that many of his patients have been forced to endure the most difficult trial of their lives, and is therefore honoured to guide them on their path to better health. He is also delighted to be sharing his Constantiaberg Medi-clinic based practice with health professionals who share his philosophy of putting the patient first.

Dr Mike du Toit completed his Haematology training at UCT/GSH as a senior specialist and in 1995 joined Prof Peter Jacobs to found the first private Haematology practice in Cape Town. In 1998 they moved to the current rooms at Mediclinic Constantiaberg as the original “Haem Team” which has now been joined by Dr Danie Kotze.
He was a founding member of the SA Oncology consortium (SAOC) which still plays an important part in the self-regulation of oncology practice in the private sector in South Africa. He was the first Haematology board member of the SAOC and continues to play an active part in its affairs. He is a past chairman of the PAPOS psycho-oncology group which fostered a psycho-oncology approach to Cancer in meetings as far afield as Uganda and Kenya between 1990 and 2004. He is an ongoing member of the American and European Haematology societies and locally remains involved with St Luke’s Hospice in Cape Town and is a director of the Sunflower fund.
Dr du Toit is involved with all aspects of clinical Haematology including Haemophilia and oncology management of Leukaemias, Lymphomas, Myelomas and Bone Marrow transplantation for haematological and other disorders. The clinic has facilities to treat patients from anywhere in RSA or elsewhere in Africa and all treatment is offered at medical aid rates as far as possible.

Dr Perry Loebenberg obtained his undergraduate medical degree with distinction from the University of Stellenbosch and then went on to specialize in Internal Medicine at the University of the Free State, graduating with distinction in 2017. He then went on to sub-specialize in Clinical Haematology at Groote Schuur Hospital, successfully completing his fellowship in May 2021. He joined the Constantiaberg Haematology team in June 2021.
Dr Loebenberg provides individualized comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of benign and malignant haematological disorders, including iron deficiency anaemia; bleeding disorders; clotting problems; lymphoma and leukemia. He prides himself in being caring, attentive and available to his patients at all times.
Dr Loebenberg is an honorary lecturer in the Department of Clinical Haematology, University of Cape Town, where his time is devoted to training post-graduate students. He is passionate about improving the access of haematology patients to novel therapeutics and is an investigator on a number of clinical trials run in collaboration with UCT Clinical Research Centre.

After completing a volunteer gap year in Zimbabwe and medical studies at the University of Cape Town, Dr Jonathan Oxley spent 12 years in Port Elizabeth, where he developed as a well-rounded specialist physician with extensive clinical experience across internal medicine, infectious diseases, nephrology, and critical care. He later returned to Cape Town to complete a fellowship in Clinical Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantation at Groote Schuur Hospital.
Dr Oxley has authored and co-authored several case reports and research articles in peer-reviewed journals. His academic interests span critical care medicine, haematology, HIV-related illnesses, and nephrology. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Discovery Foundation Award Research Grant for his M.Med work on theophylline toxicity in critical care settings.
Beyond his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr Oxley is deeply committed to family and community. His passion for youth development—first expressed through life-skills teaching in Zimbabwe and mentoring high school students from Langa township—continues through his support of junior doctors. He encourages their growth not only as clinicians but also as educators, researchers, and compassionate advocates for their patients
Medical Officer
Dr Botha obtained his MB BCh degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2018. He completed his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town andhis community service at Tintswalo Hospital in rural Mpumalanga. He later worked in haematology at a private transplant centre for over three years, caring for both adult and paediatric patients undergoing stem cell transplantation, as well as those with a range of benign and malignant blood disorders.
He is involved in the management of bone marrow failure syndromes, leukaemias, lymphomas, and thrombotic conditions, working closely with haematologists and the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care. Dr Botha values a holistic, patient-centred approach and frequently liaises with long-term care facilities, step-down units, and palliative services to support patients across the continuum of care.
He is currently involved in several clinical trials as a sub-investigator and has a growing interest in research and academic medicine. Dr Botha intends to pursue formal specialisation in haematology, building on his clinical and research experience to continue advancing care for patients with complex blood disorders.
